‘Live Uncertainty: An Exhibition After the 32nd Bienal de São Paulo’ is organized by the Fundação Bienal de São Paulo in collaboration with the Fundação de Serralves, Museu de Arte Contemporânea, Porto, Portugal.
For the presentation in the park, the Serralves Museum has commissioned five architecture studios from Porto - depA, Diogo Aguiar Studio, Fahr, fala atelier and Ottotto - to design and build temporary structures to host works by Gabriel Abrantes, Jonathas de Andrade, Cecilia Bengolea & Jeremy Deller, Priscila Fernandes and Bárbara Wagner & Benjamin de Burca.
The design focus on the creation of two concentric spaces with distinct functions: the interstitial space and the central space. The pavilion features an abstract skin, a continuous facade across its curved surface, built on four levels of vertical wooden planks. Contributing to the control of natural light in the interior space, the juxtaposition of two façade-plans, curved and parallel, which alternately open double-curved arc spans, guides the visitor to walk through the immersive space of mediation - as an antechamber-path - without revealing the central nucleus - as a space-enclosed -, the projection place where the film "Os humores artificiais" (2016) by Gabriel Abrantes is shown.
